I have been an Arizona State licensed residential general contractor since 1976. I design and build custom homes, remodels, and additions. I like to call myself a construction lifer because I grew up in the business. My parents designed and built various residential projects from individual homes to small subdivisions in the 50’s and 60s. We would regularly sit at the dining table with drafting paper drawing and debating about a better floor plan. Their business model was, as mine is today; design and build a better home with ample floor and wall space, include an abundance of closet and storage areas.

Today my goal is to determine and meet the needs for constructing a better 21st century home. Given the reality of the never ending energy crisis and the ever increasing costs of utilities, the answer I have come up with is a Super Energy Efficient Designed home; The S.E.E.D. Home™. In my professional opinion, when it comes to energy efficiency there is absolutely nothing more important than the integrity of the thermal envelope of the house, the shell; exterior walls, windows, roof and floor. I like to compare this to putting on a jacket in winter, one with holes in it will not keep you as warm as one without holes. The same is true for the summer: to keep the inside cool and comfortable, you do not want any holes in the shell.
